Yesterday while I was working in my back office, someone ripped my tap and some piping from my front garden. Water poured out of the wall and the fixture on the tap that controls my irrigation system was broken.

I know that it’s not a very big deal, but it is really irritating and inconvenient. And it was almost the end of the day after a long and tough day and I still had one more client to see.

That’s where my tap once was.

So, I called the police to report it and I called the plumber so that I could have water this weekend. (I obviously had to switch off the mains to prevent flooding.)

And here’s where the good starts happening. The woman who answered the phone at Mowbray police station could not have been nicer and more helpful. The two policemen who came down to take my statement were professional and literate.

And Mike, the plumber, came when he said he would, blocked the gushing pipe and has promised to come back on Monday and put in a new tap.

So, the only thing that I couldn’t do by end of day was water my front garden.

How’s this? It rained last night. Am I taken care of or what?
